R&S Land Management began as a small business two friends created to give their kids the opportunity to earn some extra money, and more importantly, learn the values and benefits of hard work.
Jonny Ross and Cole Schweiger are the men behind the R&S brand. Both family men in the Riverside School District, involved in local youth sports, livestock shows, and community events. They are passionate about their community and love giving back anytime they can.
How it all started …
In the beginning we were primarily doing firewood processing, sales and land clearing on the weekends and days off. Both of us live on acreage and have both done our due diligence in mitigating the risks of wildfire to our properties.
After the Oregon road fires in 2023, we saw first hand the importance and effectiveness of wildfire mitigation. Jonny's home and all of his buildings along with the timber on his 30 acres were in path of those fires, they tore through and all of his timber along with his home and shop survived the fire.
We saw first hand what the DNR cost share program and all the mitigation work was developed to do. The surrounding timber to Jonny's property did not fair so well. You can see clear as day what was mitigated and what wasn't. The proof was right there in front of us, so we decided to offer the services, and experience we had from our own properties to others. R&S Wood Yard became R&S Land Management, LLC.
Jonny and Cole both bring experience and knowledge from several different backgrounds to R&S. While Jonny brings 20+ years of all faucets of construction experience, Cole provides 25+ years of agricultural business, farming, and equipment operating expertise.
We both believe strongly in the community in which we live and are so thankful for our close family friends. R&S Land Management, LLC has had the opportunity to work with so many of our friends and neighbors in the community – which is what we truly enjoy about what we do.
